KENT, Ohio - Mercedes Germino, a senior on the Kent State women's golf team, was honored Wednesday (March 21) as the Mid-American Conference women's golfer of the week.

The honor was the second this year for Germino, who was selected following her performance at the Central District Invitational in February.

This week, Germino was Kent State's top finisher at the challenging Lady Gator Invitational, where she posted a 12-over 222 on the par-70 course. Germino finished tied for 24th and progressively cut strokes off each of her three rounds. Germino finished in front of nine top-100 golfers in the 93-golfer tournament.

The Golden Flashes will return to intercollegiate competition March 30-April 1 at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga.
