Golden Flashes Wrap Up the Opening Weekend at the Gala Saturday

KENT, Ohio – After a strong showing in the Golden Flashes Gala on Friday, Kent State's Track and Field teams continued to shine on Saturday, day two of the event in the Kent State Field House on December 12th.
Men's Team Highlights
In the men's long jump, Flashes' Samory Fraga took home first with a best jump of 7.31m (23' 11.75"), while teammate Jonathan Grant took second at 7.03m (23' 0.75"). Tim Bell finished in the top-four with a fourth place finish at a best jump of 6.77m (22' 2.5").
William Barnes opened the indoor season with a double-victory in both the 60m hurdles, 7.83, and the 200m dash, 21.15.
Brandon Harris and Joshua Peoples took first and second, respectively in the 60m dash with times of 6.82 and 6.87-seconds. Isaiah Conkle came in behind them for a fifth place finish of 7.03.
AJ Stevens won his first triple jump event in a Kent State uniform with a best jump of 15.02m (49' 3.5"). Double-dipping in events, Abdul-Nasser Seidu took fourth in the triple jump at 14.54m (47' 8.5"). Seidu also competed in the high jump, where he finished in third with a best height of 2.05m (6' 8.75").
Men's Shot Put saw David Paliscak and Micheal King finished in second and third to open the year. Paliscak, second place, had a heave of 17.33m (56' 10.25") while King, third place had a distance of 17.25m (56' 7.25").
Jacob Swords ran the 800m run in a time of 1:50.96 to finish in second place. Jesse Oxley came in second in the pole vault with a final height of 5.05m (16' 6.75").
After 10 laps on the track for the men's 3,000m run, Grant Onken finished in third with a time of 8:38.18.
Danny Young and Kyle Storm ran the 400m for a fourth and fifth place finish, respectively in times of 49.05 and 50.15.
TJ Lawson took home fourth place in the heptathlon to start off his collegiate career with point total of 5,097.
Women's Team Highlights
Taylor Farquhar crossed the finished line in a time of 1:14.16 in the 500m run for a first place finish.
Tyler Williams and Olivia Gaus both walked away from the track Saturday with victories under their belt to start the season. Williams won the 400m with a time of 56.10-seconds and Gaus won the 800m run in 2:15.58.
Arbria Williams placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.76-seconds.
Triple Jump duo of Britni Phillips and Lakia Kent-Allen placed second and third, respectively. Phillips finished with a mark of 11.65m (38' 2.75"), while Kent-Allen finished with a 11.39m (37' 4.5").
Jorian Ordway came in second in the women's 200m dash at 25.00 as T. Williams took third at 25.10.
