
Tolbert Makes it Four Flashes Heading to Eugene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kent State track and field's Donovan Tolbert became the fourth Golden Flash to advance to the 2016 NCAA Track and Field Championships, as he finished eighth in the triple jump prelims at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday, May 28.

Tolbert recorded an outdoor personal record mark of 15.96m (52' 4.5") to finish eighth and clinch a spot in the finals.  This marks the second time Tolbert has qualified for an NCAA Championship in the triple jump. Tolbert qualified for the indoor championships earlier this year, where he finished 12th, earning Second Team All-America honors.Â
In the women's triple jump prelims, Dior Delophont finished 14th with a mark of 13.09m (42' 11.5").
In the men's shot put, Micheal King took 17th with a mark of 17.91m (58' 9.25"), followed by David Paliscak in 35th at 17.03m (42' 11.5").
The men's 4x100m relay team of William Barnes, Jonathan Grant, Brian Smith and Wayne Gordon finished two spots out from qualifying for the championship, as they finished 14th with a time of 39.95.
Barnes also competed 110m hurdles quarterfinals, finishing 22nd at 15.97.
Reggie Jagers III (discus), Jackie Leppelmeier (hammer throw), Jess Oxley (pole vault) and Donovan Tolbert (triple jump) will represent Kent State at the 2016 NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 8-11.Â
