Linder to be Inducted into Summit County Softball Hall of Fame Saturday

AKRON- Kent State Head Softball Coach Karen Linder will be inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame Saturday. A three-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year, Linder will be one of 11 inductees at the 26th induction ceremony at Guy's Party Centre.
In February, Linder will begin her 16th season at Kent State, where she has won 428 games. During that time the Golden Flashes have won seven MAC East titles -- including five in the last six years – three MAC regular season championships and two MAC Tournament crowns. Kent State has made eight straight conference tournament appearances under Linder and has gone 92-31 in MAC play over the past six years.
Also being inducted on Saturday will be Sue Mani, a standout pitcher in the 1970s prior to Kent State having softball as an official varsity sport. She was a six-time all-world selection in slow pitch competition.
Linder will become the third member of Kent State's current coaching staff in the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame, joining assistant Amy Densevich and volunteer assistant Don Duffy. Densevich is a among a handful of former Golden Flashes to have received the honor which include Mary Ann King, Jaci Stein, Julie Willoughby, Carla Brookbank and Kara Brown.
