
Caley McGinty Named MAC Freshman of the Year

KENT, Ohio- Kent State's Caley McGinty has been tabbed as the 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year, voted by the 10 MAC Women's Golf Coaches. This season, all players who were eligible for the 2020 Freshman of the Year award were also eligible for the 2021 award due to the conference not distributing awards last season.
McGinty, who stood out as the team's ace, ranking 15th in the nation, was crowned the MAC tournament champion. She was named the 2021 MAC Golfer of the Year, and named to the First Team All-MAC, and All-Tournament Team.
This season, McGinty finished with a scoring average of 72.26 and had three tournament wins. She went 17 rounds for par or better and shot five rounds in the 60's. Additionally, last season she led the nation in final round scoring average (68.86).
McGinty recently competed in the NCAA Championships where she finished tied for 97th at 230 (+14).
