Flashes Travel to Cleveland State

Cleveland, Ohio - The Kent State men's basketball (6-3) team will head to Cleveland State to take on the Vikings Saturday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. ET. The Flashes will meet the Vikings for the 55th time in program history. The Golden Flashes have won the last five meetings and haven't lost in Cleveland since 2010.Â
The Flashes have won five of their nine games by 20+ points, and are currently 1-3 on the road. The team has now taken two rank teams, No. 1 Houston and most recently No. 18 Gonzaga down to the wire. Unfortunately in both games, the Flashes were taken down in the last minutes but held both teams by seven points or less.Â
Miryne Thomas led the team in scoring pouring out 16 points against Gonzaga on Dec. 5. Thomas averages 11.4 points per game and leads the team from beyond the arch with 2.4 three-pointers per game. Sincere Carry has left no question about where he stands as a leader. Carry leads the Flashes with 17. 6 points and 5.2 assists per game. Carry has had double-digits in eight of the nine games contested this season. Malique Jacobs'Â 10Â steals against Chicago State on Nov. 10 currently leads the NCAA and is a Kent State single-game record. Sophomore Cli'Ron Hornbeak recorded a game-high 10 rebounds on Dec. 2 against South Dakota State and leads the Flashes in both rebounds (6.6) and blocked shots (1.4) per game.Â
The Flashes bench contributes with Jalen Sullinger scoring double-digits for Kent in three different games this season. VonCameron Davis scored a team-high 14 points on Nov. 25 against Houston.Â
The team is currently ranked in the top ten in the nation in steals per game (10.9).In the most recent Mid-Major Top 25 poll, the Flashes are sitting in fourth place.Â
Scouting Cleveland State
The Cleveland State men's basketball team (6-4) is back on their home court after losing to St. Bonaventure on the road on Dec. 7. Vikings' head coach Daniyal Robinson is in his first season at Cleveland State. The Vikings are currently 4-1 at home. Cleveland State is eighth in the Horizon scoring 68.3 points while shooting 44.6% from the field.
Cleveland State is ranked 48th nationally in 3-point percentage defense (.285) and 65th in field goal percentage defense (.398). In their most recent game against St. Bonaventure, the Vikings shot just .306 overall (15-for-49) and were 1-of-13 on 3-pointers. They also shot just 11-for-22 at the foul line, were outrebounded 49-33, and committed 12 turnovers.Â
Vikings' leaders include Tristan Enaruna who is currently shooting 43.6 percent and averaging 11.8 points for the Vikings. Drew Lowder is averaging 7.7 points for Cleveland State.
