CLEVELAND – Kent State student-athletes Ayden Bath and Alexander Shields were recognized for their outstanding performances this past weekend at the Doug Raymond Invitational with Mid-American Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Bath posted the No. 5 heptathlon score in Golden Flashes history and won the event with 5,407 points, which ranks 23rd nationally and is more than 400 better than any other MAC athlete this season. In addition to setting a new personal-best overall score, Bath recorded PRs in the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and pole vault.
Shields won the 60-meter hurdles with a MAC-leading time of 7.86 seconds that puts him at No. 51 on the national performance list.
