HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: A 1936 graduate of Leavittsburg (now LaBrae), High School, where he earned nine varsity letters – three each in football, basketball, and track…Was coached by fellow Hall of Famer, Claude Graber…Was 1936 Trumbull County high jump champ…KSU CAREER: Earned four varsity “K’s” in football (3) and wrestling (1) for the Flashes (1936-40)…Also participated in track for Kent as a high jumper…Placed third at the 1937 NEO-AAU Wrestling Championships…Captured third place in the 1938 4-1 meet at 175 pounds…Played center and linebacker for the Flash grid squad and was an All-Ohio pick as a senior…Elected vice president of his senior class…Member of the Blue Key Honorary and Delta Phi Sigma Fraternity (now Sigma Nu)…Earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1940…POST KSU CAREER: Was employed as a chemist at Thomas Steel in Warren and also worked for the Trojan Powder Company before serving in the U.S. Air Force (1943-45) where he was a navigator…Following his discharge from the service he was the owner-operator of a food market and later an auto service station in LaGrange, Ohio, before retiring in 1976.
