HIGH SCHOOL CAREER:ย A 1936 graduate of Leavittsburg (now LaBrae), High School, where he earned nine varsity letters โ three each in football, basketball, and trackโฆWas coached by fellow Hall of Famer, Claude GraberโฆWas 1936 Trumbull County high jump champโฆKSU CAREER:ย Earned four varsity โKโsโ in football (3) and wrestling (1) for the Flashes (1936-40)โฆAlso participated in track for Kent as a high jumperโฆPlaced third at the 1937 NEO-AAU Wrestling ChampionshipsโฆCaptured third place in the 1938 4-1 meet at 175 poundsโฆPlayed center and linebacker for the Flash grid squad and was an All-Ohio pick as a seniorโฆElected vice president of his senior classโฆMember of the Blue Key Honorary and Delta Phi Sigma Fraternity (now Sigma Nu)โฆEarned his bachelorโs degree in chemistry in 1940โฆPOST KSU CAREER:ย Was employed as a chemist at Thomas Steel in Warren and also worked for the Trojan Powder Company before serving in the U.S. Air Force (1943-45) where he was a navigatorโฆFollowing his discharge from the service he was the owner-operator of a food market and later an auto service station in LaGrange, Ohio, before retiring in 1976.
