Eric Lauer became just the second Consensus First Team All-American in program history in 2016, also earning Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year, College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year, and MAC Pitcher of the Year honors in the same season. He led the NCAA with a 0.69 ERA in 2016, helping lead the team to a MAC regular season title. In addition to throwing the 11th no-hitter in Kent State history, Lauer ranks third in program history in strikeouts with 292 and fifth in innings pitched with 270.1. He was drafted 25th overall in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Padres.
