HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: A 1982 graduate of Copley High School…Lettered three times in baseball and football and twice in basketball as a prep…KSU CAREER: Earned four Varsity “K’s” in baseball for the Flashes from 1983-86…All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection in 1986…Was named to the All-District IV First Team and the All-America Third Team in 1986 as well…Established Kent pitching records for saves in a season and a career, with eight, and appearances with 19…Posted 10-6 career record with 79 strikeouts in 74.1 innings pitched…At the plate he rapped out 100 career hits, including 20 doubles and 14 homeruns…Hit for a .350 career average with 84 runs batted in…Majored in graphic design…Was drafted in the second round of the 1986 amateur draft by the Montreal Expos…POST KSU CAREER: Has also played in the Pittsburgh Pirates’, San Diego Padres’ and Houston Astros’ organizations…Saw his first major league action with the Pirates in 1994 before being picked up on waivers by the Padres…At San Diego he posted a 3-1 record with one save and 3.89 ERA…Recently signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will be one their 40-man spring training roster…PERSONAL: He and his wife Gretchen live in Canal Fulton and have a daughter, Brooke.
