HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: A 1930 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School where he earned three varsity letters in football…KSU CAREER: Lettered six times for the Flashes, three each in football and wrestling from 1932-35…Member of Joe Begala’s undefeated squads in heavyweight in 1934 & 1935…Ohio heavyweight champ in 1933…Represented Kent at the National Intercollegiate Meet in 1934 & 1935…Played football under Merle Wagoner…Earned his degree in education (chemistry) in 1935…POST KSU CAREER: Captured the heavyweight title in the 1936 U.S. Olympic District Wrestling Tryouts…PERSONAL: Born on April 21, 1911 in Kent, Ohio…Taught in the Garrettsville school system in Portage County…Retired from Gougler Industries in 1976…He and his wife Pauline have two children, Bob and Janette.
