KSU CAREER: Participated in both wrestling and football at Kent State…Was Mid-American Conference champion three consecutive years, 1957-59…Compiled an impressive 25-1-1 dual meet record during his career…Holds MAC record for least points scored against in tournament competition…In three MAC tourneys only one point was scored against him…Had least number of total losses, including tournaments and dual meets, during his junior and senior seasons (2 losses) combined…Two-time champion in the 4-1 tournament…Placed first one and second once in A.A.U. Tournament…Lost only six matches during his entire KSU career…Teamed with Frank Fiore and Clarence McNaii to give Kent one of its best wrestling squads ever…HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Cleveland’s West Tech. High School in 1955…As a prep he was a member of athletic teams in football, wrestling, and track…POST KSU CAREER: Was a member (alternate) of the 1961 United State World championship Wrestling Team…Turned to coaching following his competitive career…Guided wrestling squads for : University High School, Columbus, Brooklyn High School, Northern Michigan University and Appalachian State University…Nominated for NCAA College Division Coach of the Year…Coached seven NCAA divisional place winners and one NCAA championship…Has been a speaker and clinician at numerous wrestling clinics throughout the United States…Is a member of many wrestling organization including: National Wrestling Coaches Association, U.S. Wrestling Foundation, A.A.U., and several officiating associations…PERSONAL: Born May 7, 1937 in Cleveland, Oh…Is married, he and wife Gretchen have two children, Mark and Gail…Earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from KSU in 1959…Also received a B.S. in education from Ohio State in 1966…Received his master’s in education from the University of Akron in 1969…Currently is the Director of Intramurals for the University of Akron.
