KSU CAREER: One of the finest swimmers ever at Kent State, Les was the first All-American swimmer in KSU history…Was selected by the College Swimming Coaches of America to the All-American Collegiate Team in both the 100 and 200 - yard backstroke in 1967, 1969, and 1970…Swam the first of the 800 – yard freestyle relay team that won the MAC title in 1970… Held freshman, varsity, and pool records in both backstrokes during his time at Kent, along with varsity records in the 500 and 1,000 – yard freestyles…Also was a member of three record-setting relays for the Flashes…HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1965…Four-Year letterman in swimming in high school who was talented enough to swim for varsity as a Freshman…All-America as a sophomore, junior, and senior…Won Pennsylvania state
Championships in the 100 – yard backstroke in 1964 and 1965…POST KSU CAREER: After graduation, Moore was a coach at the Greater Pittsburgh Swim Club for two years…Then moved on to coach at John F. Kennedy High School in Taylor, Michigan, for four years, helping to establish the program there…PERSONAL: Born on July, 4, 1947, in Erie, Pennsylvania…Earned a B.S. degree in education from KSU in 1971…Presently is a salesman for Welded Rings Products Company in Cleveland…Enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing golf…He and his wife, the former Linda Janosek, have three daughters.
