HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Earned 12 varsity letters in football (3) basketball (3) baseball (3) and track (3) at Parker-Gray High School in Alexandria, Virginia…Graduated in 1963 after earning All-Conference recognition in all four sports…Was inducted into the Parker-Gray High School Hall of Fame in 1989…KSU CAREER: Lettered three times for the Golden Flashes on the gridiron (1965-67)…All-Mid-American Conference defensive back as a junior and senior…Was a unanimous selection as a senior…Set Kent school records for interceptions in a season in 1965 and 1966 with six and seven, respectively (since broken)…Still holds the Kent career interception record with 19 (in just 23 games)…Was a pre-season All-America pick by Sports Illustrated in 1967…Received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology in 1970…Member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity…POST KSU CAREER: Played for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a defensive back (1968-69)…PERSONAL: Full name is Louis Richard Harris…Born on March 25, 1946 in Washington, D.C….A member of the U.S. Army Reserve…Active in the Association of Energy Engineers and the Alexandria Boys Club…He and his wife, Shirley, have one child, Tre’, who is a nationally ranked junior tennis player.
