KSU CAREER: Three-year monogram winner on the gridiron for the Flashes…Named Alumni Sophomore of the Year and All-Mid American conference honorable mention…All-MAC first team choice in his junior and senior seasons…Honorable mention All-American as a senior…Led KSU in tackles three consecutive seasons…Selected team MVP in junior and senior seasons…Captained squad as a senior…Twice named MAC player of the Week…Had 13 career interceptions…All-MAC at two different positions, halfback and defensive back…Had 162 interception return yards for his career…HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Attended Wickliffe High School where he won five varsity letters…Lettered three times in football and twice in basketball…Selected All-Northeast Ohio on both offense and defense in football, three years on defense and also as a quarterback in 1964…Honorable mention All-NEO in basketball as well…Selected athlete of the year as a senior…POST KSU CAREER: Played professional football for the New York Jets for one season…Played for the Jets New Jersey farm club in 1966 and was defensive captain…Led team with 12 interceptions…Selected to Continental Football League all star team…Coached at Toledo’s St. Francis High School, Adrian College (Michigan), Kent State University and Kent Roosevelt prior to 1975…Named head football coach at Toledo Whitener High School in 1975…has been very successful as head coach…Guided the Panthers to first place finish in computer ranking in 1979, lost to eventual state titleist Cincinnati Moeller…Selected as AAA co-coach of the year in 1979…Has published articles on defensive football and has been a featured speaker at numerous football clinics and banquets…PERSONAL: Born April 1944…Married to the former Judy Prose…They have three children: Patrick, Tony, and Lisa…Member of the Ohio High School Football Association, National Football Coaches Association…Enjoys all sports activities and spending time with his family.
