KSU CAREER: Earned 8 Varsity “K’s” in three sports during his collegiate career…Lettered three times each in basketball and track, 1941-1943, and captained each team as well…Earned two varsity monograms in football while at Kent State…Was NEO Heavyweight runner-up as a grappler in 1941…HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Cleveland’s John Adams High School in 1939…POST KSU CAREER: Played football for the El Toro Marines in 1944 and 1945 while serving in the U.S. Marine corps…Entered the professional football ranks as a member of the Chicago Rockets in the old All-American Conference…Was injured during his rookie season, 1947…Taught and coached at Kent State High School…PERSONAL: Born on February 6, 1921 in Cleveland, Oh…Married the former Ruth Ericson…They have three daughters, Lindsay, Miriam, and Joanne…Was a member of the Varsity “K” and Blue Key Clubs at KSU…U.S. Marine Corps Captain…Member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine and Lions Club…Active in United Methodist Church…Currently Executive Director the Methodist Evangelical Hospital Foundation.
