HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Ravenna High School in 1977…Won six letters as a prep, three each in football and wrestling…Two-time all-Metro League selection in football…Three-time Metro League, sectional and district champion…Placed in the top three in the state wrestling tournament three times, including a state championship as a senior…KSU CAREER: Earned four Varsity “K’s” under coach Ron Gray from 1978-81…Led the Flashes to a 44-12-1 dual-meet record, four Mid-American Conference team titles and two top-20 NCAA rankings…Set and still holds the Kent record for most victories in a career with 110…Set Kent season win record with 38 dual match victories in 1980-81…Team captain in both his junior and senior seasons…Won the 167-pound Mid-American Conference title in 1981…Placed sixth at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors in 1981…Led the Golden Flashes to a school-record 16 dual-meet victories as a senior (a mark that was equaled by the 1985-86 team)…Shared the prestigious Joe Begala award with teammate Ray Wagner as a senior…Selected team MVP in both his junior and senior seasons…Received his bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in industrial arts in 1982 and 1984, respectively…POST KSU CAREER: Currently in his thirteenth season as the head wrestling coach at Ravenna High School…He has guided the Ravens to a 159024-3 record (.855 winning percentage) and eight consecutive league titles (seven Metro League championships and one Western Reserve Conference (WRC) title)…Voted Ohio High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year 1990-96 and WRC Coach of the Year in 1997…PERSONAL: Also serves as Ravenna’s Athletic Coordinator…He and his wife Nancy currently reside with their two children, Monica and Matthew.
