Men's Basketball has 10-Game Win Streak Snapped at Buffalo

The Kent State University men's basketball team (20-4, 13-2 MAC) had its 10-game win streak snapped with a 82-66 loss at the University at Buffalo (13-11, 8-7 MAC) tonight (Feb. 25). The Bulls were a hot shooting team, hitting 55.8 percent of their field-goal attempts, including 14-of-25 (.560) three-point attempts.
The Golden Flashes got 18 points from senior forward Bryan Bedford and 14 from junior guard Jason Edwin in a losing effort. Buffalo was led by Daniel Gilbert, who totaled 22 points.
Buffalo shot out to a 42-31 lead at halftime, paced by 57.1 percent shooting from the field. The Bulls did not let Kent State back into the ball game in the second-half by shooting a red-hot 7-of-10 from three-point range. Buffalo came into the game averaging 5.4 three-point field goals per game, but hit 14 tonight.
Sophomore guard DeAndre Haynes went for 11 points and six assists.
Kent State is next in action Sunday, Feb. 29, when it plays at the University of Akron. Game time is 2 p.m.
NOTES: The 82 points scored by the Bulls were the most allowed by Kent State this season... Kent State's two highest point totals allowed both came against Buffalo (82 tonight, 75 Feb. 11)... Buffalo is now the only team to defeat Kent State twice in the last three years, Buffalo claimed a 66-65 win Jan. 9, 2002.
