John Edwards Signs Free-Agent Contract With Sacramento Kings

KENT, Ohio - Former Kent State center John Edwards (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) has signed a free-agent contract with the Sacramento Kings and will participate on the teams summer entry in the Los Angeles Summer League starting on July 6.
Edwards capped a spectacular career which saw him go from walk-on to Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Year this past spring. Edwards averaged 13.2 points per game on 53 percent shooting to go along with 6.6 caroms per contest. He also blocked 81 shots on the year and finished his career as the all-time KSU leader with 179.
Edwards was a member of two NCAA tournament teams at Kent State, including the 2002 Elite Eight team, and helped lead the Golden Flashes to an 98-34 record over his four years.
