KENT, Ohio -- The opponents will each be looking to snap a two-game losing streak when the Kent State University men's basketball team plays its third straight road game Saturday afternoon (Dec. 9) at IPFW. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
• The Golden Flashes (4-3) have had 10 days off since suffering their second straight setback, a 66-59 loss last Wednesday night (Nov. 29) at area rival Cleveland State University. After a busy opening month in which it played seven times in the season's first 19 days, Kent State will have nine days off following the IPFW game before traveling to No. 7 Duke University Dec. 19 for a nationally-televised contest at Cameron Indoor Stadium (ESPN).
Kent State will also be looking to pick up its first road win of the season after dropping their first three contests on an opponents' home floor. The Flashes are 2-3 overall away from home this year with a pair of neutral court victories, but have suffered setbacks at Ohio State, Butler and Cleveland State.
• IPFW (3-6) has also dropped its last two contests, most recently an 80-43 decision at Michigan State University Wednesday (Dec. 6) in East Lansing, Mich. Like Kent State, IPFW's two losses came on the road, however the Mastodons have also dropped two straight at home.
• Kent State has won the previous five meetings with IPFW, most recently an 86-61 victory in Kent last season (Dec. 8, 2005). The Flashes won their only other visit to Allen County, 67-66, Nov. 25, 2003. .
• In the Golden Flashes loss last week at Cleveland State, sophomore forward Julian Sullinger scored a career-high 12 points and matched his personal best with eight rebounds off the bench. Senior guard Armon Gates moved into eighth place on the school's all-time three-pointers made list by hitting three treys en route to 11 points. Sullinger's fellow frontcourt mate, Isaac Knight, also had a strong game off the bench with season-highs of 10 points and eight boards.
