Fisher Selected as MAC East Player of the Week

Junior guard averaged 16.5 points and 5.0 assists in two games
KENT, Ohio - Kent State junior guard Al Fisher (Pennsauken, N.J. / Redlands CC (Okla.)) was named the Mid American Conference East Division Men's Basketball Player Of The Week in an announcement made by the league office on Monday. Giordan Watson of Central Michigan was named the MAC West Division Player of the Week.
Fisher averaged 16.5 ppg and 5.0 apg in two games last week and has led the Golden Flashes to a MAC best five game winning streak. In addition he shot .444 (12-27) from the field, .400 (4-10) from three and .833 (5-6) from the foul line.
The junior transfer began the week on Wednesday at Youngstown State dishing out six assists as KSU built an 18-point first half lead. In the second half he took over the scoring, totaling all 11 second half points in the final five minutes when he scored 11 of the final 13 for the Golden Flashes who hung on for a 59-52 win.
On Saturday against a 7-2 George Mason team that received four votes in last weeks AP Top 25 Poll, Fisher recorded a game and career-high 17 points and had four assists as the Golden Flashes ran away from the Patriots 73-55 to post their eighth win in the last nine games.
On the season he is averaging 11.3 points a game and ranks fifth in the league with 4.5 assists per game.
The Golden Flashes (8-2) return to action on Thursday, December 20 against IPFW.
