Fisher Picks Up More Preseason Honors

Senior Guard named to Preseason Mid-Major All-American Team
KENT, Ohio After earning conference player of the year honors and guiding Kent State to a Mid-American Conference title last year, it was certain senior guard Al Fisher (Pennsauken, N.J. / Redlands CC (Okla.) would be recognized in the 2008-09 preseason.
CollegeHoops.net has selected Fisher for its Preseason Mid-Major All-American team. Named to the second team, the 6'1” guard is one of five 2008 All-Americans on the preseason team The list includes Stephen Curry of Davidson and Patrick Mills, whose Saint Mary's (Calif.) squad comes to the M.A.C. Center on Dec. 4. The teams are voted on by the publication's staff writers. Fisher was honored as a third team Mid-Major All-American following last season.

After making a name for himself with his late game heroics in 2007-08, The Sporting News recognized Fisher as the 'Best Under Pressure' in the Mid-American Conference.
The New Jersey product, who averaged a team best 13.9 points and 4.0 assists as a junior, was also named a to the Preseason All-MAC team by the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.
One of just seven teams in the country to win 20 games each of the last 10 seasons, the Golden Flashes open the season at home at 7:00 p.m. on Monday Nov. 17 against North Carolina Central.
