Kent State wins 72-48. Cannot say enough about the D the second half, outscoring BG 39-15. Also, KSU did not let their foot off the gas. They pushed and continued to push. Great court awareness by Simpson the whole game, making plays off a set that was broken. Good win going into the weekend.
Have a safe night and GO FLASHES!
On the women's side, Buffalo making a run and KSU leads 69-56 with four left. Here come da Bulls.
Talk about defense! Kent State held BG without a POINT from 16:20 to 8:01 left! 8 minutes and 19 seconds. Kent State outscoring BG 37-14 this half. 2:31 left, 70-47 KSU.
Simpson playing really well and just dropped a dime with the shot clock running to Brandon Parks. Absolutely good court awareness by Simpson. He looks night and day different then the last home game. If KSU plays well, this is what can happen. 60-41 KSU 7:36 left.
Kent State creating some distance and BG has 11 turnovers. 53-39 after a Fisher three 10 left.
Anthony Simpson having a ballgame! 50-39 KSU 12:32 left.
This is a good sign when KSU can make something out of a COMPLETELY broken play. Fumbling the ball about three times, Simpson cleans it up and drains the jumper in the lane. Singletary with the rebound 48-39 KSU with 13:35 left.
If you leave him open, you're going to your feelings hurt. Al Fisher for 3! 44-39 KSU. Parks pull the board and gets the fourth foul on 6-9 Marc Larson on BG. 44-39 with 14:43 left in the game.
Kent State got the "stop" they needed. BG missed a pair of freebies and Simpson promptly responds with a fade away jumper. 41-39 KSU 16:10 left.
As hard as it was for both teams to score in the first half, it is the polar opposite so far in the second. 18 left in the game, 39-37 KSU.
One half doesn't solve anything. 33 all at the intermission.
Hello Al Fisher! BG cuts it to one but two quick KSU buckets and a nice cut by Fisher and a kiss off the glass. BG cuts it back to two, 33-31 44 seconds left.
KSU built the lead to 29-22, but BG cut it to 29-26 3:39 left and is at the line for one. This looks like it will be a maylox masher all night long.
Take a trip down I-90 and we have the KSU and Buffalo women hooking up. Chenel Harris going bonkers with 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting (2-for-2 from distance) and 4-for-4 from the line. 41-24 KSU women.3:48 left in the first.
Nice slip on a cut by Singletary and then force a BG TO. Al Fisher shades of Akron for 3! all of a sudden 27-22 KSU 5:40 left. KSU forces the held ball but alertly call timeout before the jump.
Another problem relying on big men, if their are missed shots and they continually have to get O-boards, it increases the chances of rebounding fouls. Sullinger hits a three after a BG rebounding foul, but KSU on a 5-0 run. 20-all 8:53 left. BG fouls 8, KSU 3.
Evans going to the line for three after being fouled on the shot. Teams are respecting his outside shot and it paid off as he never touched iron on all three. 18-15 KSU 10:30 left.
Nice to see you Anthony Simpson! After Singletary splits a pair, KSU comes up with the stop and Simpson gets the fastbreak layup on a dime from Mincy. If KSU can push the tempo, it neutralizes the advantage BG's advantage in the paint. THE IRON KIND (assist to Tim Brando on FSN) on an Evans three. 14-13 KSU 11:27 left.
Good to see Simpson off the bench and drains a three. Then he comes up with the nice steal and out let but unfortunately KSU cannot convert the layup. 11-8 BGSU 13:25 left.
Singletary with the quick cleanup of the glass and puts it back. 9-5 BG 15:44 left.
Bowling Green has a monster inside, 6-9 Otis Polk. So far, he is raking up the offensive rebounds and has four quick points. BG out to a quick 9-3 lead 16:30 left...
Not much action early on. BG hits a three by Sullinger ties it up with a three, the old fashioned way.
And we are off and KSU wins the tip. So important to get a fast start. As I say that, Flashes turnover...
