Cross Country Teams Ready to Fly at Falcon Invite

The Kent State cross country teams hit the ground running again Saturday (Oct. 16), participating in the Falcon Invite in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The women's 6K race begins at 10:45 a.m. with the men's 8K following at 11:30 a.m.
The Golden Flashes last competed two weeks ago in the Lehigh-Brooks Paul Short Run, with the men's team tying for 25th place with 677 points while the women took 26th with 680.
Senior Scott Hilditch (Stow, Ohio) was the top finisher on the men's side for the Golden Flashes, taking 41st place in the 8K with a time of 24:48. Senior Alex Lizarribar (Clyde, Ohio) paced the women's squad with a time of 22:12 for 103rd in the 6K race.
Sophomore Steve Fischer (Hudson, Ohio) clocked a 25:22 for 128th. Redshirt sophomore Michael Heller (Stow, Ohio) finished 139th with a time of 25:25. Sophmore Kiplangat Tisia (Koiybey, Kenya) crossed the finish line in 25:43 to take 177th. Redshirt freshman Daniel Bullard (North Olmsted, Ohio) timed in at 25:53 for 192nd. Freshman Andrew Goodwin (Celina, Ohio) placed 210th with a time of 26:01. Redshirt sophomore Colin Pettiford clocked a 26:25 for 256th.
Senior Jessica Lhotsky (Medina, Ohio) finished in 22:29 for 131st. Senior Allison Krupko (Homeworth, Ohio) took 137th with time of 22:32. Senior Kassandra Meholick (New Cumberland, Pa.) posted a time of 22:43 for 154th. Sophomore Melinda Sawnor (Rochester, N.Y.) finished right behind Meholick, taking 155th by clocking a 22:44. Junior Audrey Maheu (Bristolville, Ohio) crossed the finish in 22:49 for 168th. Redshirt freshman Hannah Spicer (Canal Winchester, Ohio) timed in at 23:13 to place 207th.
TOP-10 FINISHES
The Golden Flashes have received a number of top-10 finishes this season.
•Hilditch won the four-mile Tommy Evans Invitational on Sept. 9 and broke the course record at Firestone Metro Park by clocking a 19:57.
•Lizarribar clocked an 18:47 at the 5K Buffalo Stampede on Sept. 18 to finish second overall.
•Meholick took fourth at the Buffalo Stampede in 19:12.
•Maheu led the women's team at the Tommy Evans Invitational by taking fifth in 18:56. She also rounded out the women's top 10 at the Buffalo Stampede by crossing the finish line in 19:25 for ninth.
•Goodwin enjoyed a strong start to his collegiate career, taking fifth with a time of 20:28.
•Krupko placed sixth at the Buffalo Stampede with a time of 19:16.
•Heller led the way for KSU on the men's side at the Buffalo Stampede by finishing sixth in 25:59.
Lhotsky took eighth at the Buffalo Stampede by clocking a 19:22.
•Tisia timed a 26:15 for eighth at the Buffalo Stampede.
•Fischer took ninth at the Buffalo Stampede in 26:19.
With five women's runners finishing in the top 10, the Flashes secured 29 points to win the Buffalo Stampede. The men's team took second with 50 points thanks to three runners placing in the top 10.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Golden Flashes travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., Oct. 22 to run in the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic.
