Golden Flashes Go For Win No. 500 In The M.A.C. Center On Saturday Against Central Michigan

The Game
Kent State (14-7; 5-2) hosts Central Michigan (6-15; 3-5) on ESPNU in a Hall of Fame Day doubleheader this Saturday looking to extend a three-game winning streak and stay amongst the leaders in the Mid-American Conference. The Golden Flashes are going after their 500th home win in the M.A.C. Center which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this season. Following the game the Kent State women's basketball team will host Western Michigan at 7:30 p.m.
After Wednesday's game at Western Michigan was postponed, Kent State begins the day a half-game back of Buffalo (6-2) and Bowling Green (6-2) in the MAC East Division race.
Junior forward Justin Greene picked up his league leading and school record fifth MAC East Player of the Week award this season on Monday afternoon after recording a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-55 win over Toledo on Sunday. In addition to being ranked fifth in the league in scoring (15.9 ppg) and third in rebounding (7.6 rpg) he is fifth in blocked shots (1.3 bpg) and 16th in steals (1.2 spg) making him the only player in the MAC ranked in the top 16 in all four categories.
Having now won five of the last six games, the Golden Flashes were also aided by a pair of all-around performances from juniors Carlton Guyton and Michael Porrini. Guyton, who had 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals in the win, is averaging 9.4 points per game off the bench in the five games since his return to the line-up. Porrini had himself another busy afternoon with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. The 6'2" guard leads the team in assists (4.1 apg) and steals (2.0 spg) while ranking second in rebounding (4.3 rpg).
Central Michigan ended a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 91-85 win over Ohio. Trey Zeigler had 24 points in the win and leads the with 17.3 points per game this season. The Chippewas have lost seven straight and are 1-9 on the road.
