Kent State Places Second At 2011 Mid-American Conference Championships

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Kent State gymnastics team placed second to host Central Michigan Saturday (March 19) at the 2011 Mid-American Conference Championships at McGuirk Arena.
The Golden Flashes totaled an overall team score of 195.050 courtesy of event scores of 49.025 on the vault, 48.850 on the uneven bars, 48.725 on the floor exercise and 48.450 on the balance beam.
Senior Christina Lenny (Broadview Heights, Ohio) garnered First Team All-MAC selection while freshman Marie Case (Erie, Pa.) earned Second Team All-MAC accolades.
Lenny captured her third conference vault title of her career, tying for first with a 9.900. She finished second in the all-around with a combined score of 39.200. Lenny also tied for second on the uneven bars (9.800) and tied for 10th on the floor exercise (9.800).
Case finished fourth in the all-around with a 39.200 in her first career conference championship meet. She finished sixth on the vault with a 9.800, tied for 10th on the floor exercise with a 9.800 and tied for seventh on the uneven bars with a 9.750.
Sophomore Lindsay Runyan (Maineville, Ohio) tied Lenny for second on the uneven bars with a 9.800.
Junior Rachel Goldenberg (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Lauren Wozniak (Pittsburgh, Pa.) matched Case on the vault as each recorded a 9.800. Wozniak also tied for 18th on the floor exercise with a 9.750.
Senior Christine Abou-Mitri (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and junior Rachel Guida (Cumberland, R.I.) tied Case for seventh on the uneven bars, each posting a 9.750.
The NCAA Regionals will be held April 2. Kent State's destination for the regionals will be determined Monday (March 21).
