Kent State Field Hockey Inks Nine For 2011

The 2011 incoming class represents student-athletes from five states ranging from California to New York as well as Germany.
Jenna McHale (Willow Street, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg HS)
The most prolific scorer in Lampeter-Strasburg High School history, McHale joins the Golden Flashes after racking up 54 goals and 42 assists in her four year career. A two-time all-state honoree, she was Lamperter-Strasburg's Wendy's High School Heisman recipient in 2010. McHale played five years on Futures teams winning an AAU Junior Olympics gold medal in 2009. A two-sport athlete, McHale was an all-league selection for lacrosse as well.
Missy Ramsey (Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley HS)
Delaware Valley's leading scorer, Ramsey finished with 12 goals and four assists in 2010 while earning second team all-state honors for a second consecutive year. She also earned honorable mention all-state recognition as a sophomore in 2008 and has been part of the Region
5 Futures program for five years.
Samantha Surdy (Mountain Top, Pa. / Crestwood HS)
A two-time PHSFHCA Second Team All-State selection, Surdy comes to Kent State after leading her Crestwood team to a state semifinal appearance in 2010 and a quarterfinal appearance in 2009. She is a five-time futures participant and a member of the National Honor Society.

Carrico was a member of the 2010 Sacred Heart Academy state championship team and was a 2008 Futures Elite participant. She was named 2010 Kentucky Select First Team, 2010 All-Apple Tournament Team and was the recipient of the Bunny Daughtery Defense Award. Along with on the field accomplishments Carrico boasts a 4.0 grade point average.
Jahna Jordan (Fallbrook, Calif. / Fallbrook Union HS)

A product of Fallbrook Union High School in California, Jordan was the goalkeeper for Warriors earning First Team All-CIF honors in 2010 and Second Team accolades in 2008 and 2009. A First Team All-Avocado honoree as well she made 87 saves and surrendered just eight goals in 480 minutes of action. Jordan played for the USA Field Hockey U16 Futures development program in 2009 and a San Diego U19 National futures championship team in 2010. The Sierra Tournament Most Outstanding Goalie in 2010 she was also selected as one of the top 20 players in San Diego County by the North County Times.
Julia Hofmann (Bad Muenster, Germany / Bad Muenster am Stein-Ebernburg)

A member of the Kreuznacher Hockey Club since she was five years old, Hofmann plays in the midfield or as a defender. A technically sound player she scored 15 goals in ten matches during her last indoor season including the deciding goal in a game that promoted her squad into a higher league. Hofmann was also part of a hockey club in Auckland/NZL.

Paige Bordner (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove HS)
A product of Selingsgrove High School in Pennsylvania, Bordner led her team to four straight league and district championships, including a state runner-up finish in 2009. As a senior in 2010 she was named second team All-State and also received first team honors from the Heartland Conference and Daily Item. An honorable mention all-state honoree as a junior, she participated on six Keystone State Game squads. Bordner finished her high school career with 48 goals and 22 assists. In addition to her accomplishments on the field she was a three-year varsity letterwinner in Track & Field competing in the 100-meter high hurdles.
Hannah Faulkner (Edwardsville, Ill. / Edwardsville HS)

Faulkner plays for the Gateway Club team in St. Louis and is also part of the Futures program. She was a co-captain for the Tigers in both 2009 and 2010, scoring six goals and notching three assists for 15 points, as a senior. A two-sport athlete, Faulkner will also join the Kent State track & field team this fall competing in the pole vault.
Shannon Martin (Williamsville, N,Y. / Nichols HS)

Martin received first team all-state and first team all western New York honors each of the past two years. As a senior at Nichols she scored 21 goals and had 16 assists to helped lead the team to a 16-1-2 record and the NYSAIS State Championship. A two-year member of USA Field Hockey Futures U19 Level I in Syracuse, New York she was also named to the 2010 NFHCA High School National Academic Squad.
