Kent State Travels To Miami On Tuesday Eying An Eighth Straight MAC Win

The Game
Kent State (19-7; 9-3 MAC) returns to Mid-American Conference action on Tuesday at 7:00 pm with a key East Division road contest at Miami (8-17; 4-8 MAC). The Golden Flashes have won their last seven conference games and are seeking their longest winning streak against league competition since the 2004 season.
The current seven game winning streak in the MAC has vaulted Kent State into a tie for second place in the East Division and overall standings. Coming off a three-game home stand that included an 80-73 loss to the College of Charleston in a BracketBuster contest on Saturday, the Golden Flashes also travel to Bowling Green this Saturday to wrap up the road portion of the MAC regular season schedule.
A leading candidate for MAC Sixth-Man of the Year, junior forward Chris Evans continued to shine off the bench against Charleston. Evans paced the team with 16 points and a career high 13 rebounds for his first double-double at Kent State. He is averaging 11.1 points per game in MAC play while leading the league in field goal percentage at .590. Senior guard Carlton Guyton also had 16 points in Saturday's game and is averaging 13.2 points over the last five games.
Senior guard Michael Porrini filled up the stat sheet once again with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists. He averaged 12 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists in the two games last week for Kent State and is the only MAC player averaging more than 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds & 5.0 assists per game during conference play.
Miami has lost two straight including a 68-61 loss in a BracketBuster game vs Tennessee State on Sunday. Julian Mavunga, a 6'8" senior forward, is leads the MAC in both scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.4 rpg).

• Kent State is seeking its first win in Oxford since 2008. Miami is 48-13 all-time at home in the series. The last two years (2008, 2006) the Golden Flashes have won in Millet Hall the team has gone on to win the MAC Tournament.
