A national television audience will get its first glimpse of the 2013-14 Kent State men's basketball team when the Golden Flashes travel to Temple on Monday, November 11. The 7 p.m. contest will be televised on ESPNU and serve as the opening game of the sixth annual ESPN Tip-Off Marathon.
Â
The game against the Owls will be the first of five contests for the Golden Flashes as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. It also serves as a rematch from last year's Tip-Off Marathon, which saw Temple come away with an 80-66 victory in Kent.
Â
Kent State will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon, which features more than 24 straight hours of college basketball. However, this will be the first time the Golden Flashes are slated for a night game as part of the marathon, having gone 2-1 in previous years.
Â
In 2010, Kent State earned a 62-59 victory over Robert Morris in an 8 a.m. contest at the M.A.C. Center. The Flashes traveled to West Virginia for a 10 a.m. contest in 2011 as head coach Rob Senderoff debuted with a 70-60 win that marked Kent State's first true road win over a BCS school in 41 years.
Â
The Mid-American Conference is expected to announce the conference schedule for the 2013-14 season later this month. Additional game times and television information for Kent State games will be available in the coming months.
Â
Senderoff and his squad are set to begin their second week of practice in preparation for the upcoming foreign trip to the Bahamas. The Flashes are scheduled to play four games on the trip, opening next Monday (Aug. 18) at 7 p.m. against Legends All-Stars.
