KENT, Ohio — As part of its current five-game homestand, Kent State host for the inaugural 2014 Men Against Breast Cancer Classic at the M.A.C. Center this weekend (Nov. 21-23). Illinois-Chicago, Southern Illinois and Yale will also compete in the event.
"It is an honor to have the opportunity to host the first ever Men Against Breast Cancer Classic at Kent State," head coach Rob Senderoff said. "Men Against Breast Cancer provides a great support system for men who are helping a loved one battle the disease, and it is truly a privilege to partner with this organization in the fight against cancer."
There will be two games played each night at the M.A.C. Center in a doubleheader format. The first game on Friday and Saturday is scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip-off, while play will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Kent State will play in the nightcap each day, with tip-off beginning approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game.
Kent State (2-0) will open the weekend against Southern Illinois on Friday night, then play Illinois-Chicago on Saturday before concluding the event against Yale on Sunday.
The weekend will serve as a test for the Golden Flashes, who will have played five games in eight days to start the season at the conclusion of the tournament. The Flashes look to remain unbeaten after opening the season with wins over Youngstown State (69-61) on Saturday and Malone (62-52) on Tuesday, which was also part of the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic.
Redshirt sophomore Jimmy Hall has made an immediate impact during his first two games as a Golden Flash and leads the team with averages of 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game. Senior guard Kris Brewer is averaging a 10.0 points and 4.0 assists, while senior guards Devareaux Manley (9.5 ppg) and Derek Jackson (9.0 ppg) are averaging just under double-figures for the Flashes.
Fans will have the opportunity to watch two games for the price of one, as each ticket is good for both games each night. A separate ticket must be purchased for each day. The doors of the M.A.C. Center will open 60 minutes prior to tip-off each day.
Tickets can be purchased over the phone by calling at 330-672-2244, in person by coming to the M.A.C. Center ticket office from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or online by going to the Tickets page.

About Men Against Breast Cancer
Men Against Breast Cancer (MABC) is the first and only national 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to provide targeted support services that educate and empower men to be effective caregivers when cancer strikes. Since our founding in 1999, MABC has mobilized men across America, including under-served populations, to be active participants in the fight against breast cancer. Our philosophy is to leverage the support of the whole family to help the patient, with special emphasis on the important role of men in caring for the women they love.
