Kent State Basketball Helps Raise Money at KSU Flash-A-Thon

Members of the Kent State men's and women's basketball teams participated in the KSU Flash-A-Thon event held at the Student Wellness and Recreation Center on Saturday, April 12.
This year's event had 509 participants and raised more than $22,000 for the Oncology department and Showers Family Center at Akron Children's Hospital.
Student-athletes from each team spent an hour at the event dancing alongside their fellow students from various organizations across campus.
"It feels good to help raise money for a good cause," said junior Devareaux Manley. "We all had a good time and enjoyed spending time with some of the patients who were there. We even helped sing "Happy Birthday" to one of the girls. Any time you can help put smiles on the faces of children, it's a good day."
The KSU Flash-A-Thon is a non-profit philanthropic organization that works year-round to help patients financially and emotionally in the Hematology and Oncology department at Akron Children's Hospital. For the second year in a row, the group's efforts culminated with a 12-hour dance marathon, which raised more than $14,000 in 2013.
