Cross Country's Season Ends at NCAA Great Lakes Regional Friday

MADISON, Wis. – Kent State's cross country programs ended their season at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals on Friday, November 13th at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Championship Course, which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin, as the women's team took 23rd and the men's team placed 25th in their respective races.
The women's team placed 23rd out of the 31 competing teams on the 6K course with a total of 684 points in a team time of 1:56:23. The Golden Flashes were lead by Rachel Slingluff who finished in 61st overall out of 215 runners. Slingluff finished with a time of 21:57.5.
Other Flashes on the course behind Slingluff were Morgan Bing in 142nd (23:22.8), Hannah Fleck 147th (23:24.9), Jesse Slingluff 166th (23:46.9), Taylor Wickey 168th (23:51.5), Brigid Callaghan 176th (24:08.8) and Emily Henry in 185th (24:26.1).
The men's team placed 25th out of the 30 competing teams on the 10K course with a total of 741 points in a time of 2:49:21. Grant Onken led the pack with a 132nd place finish, out of 202 runners, in a time of 33:28.7.
Coming in behind Onken was Brandon Avers in 139th (33:38.1), Kyle Brooks took 147th (33:47.3), Connor Whelan 153rd (33:55.6), Samuel Allen 170th (34:31.4), Nick Schank 173rd (34:39.2) and Zane Kahkonen Keppler in 174th (34:43.7).
On the women's side, No. 7 Michigan (69 points) and No. 15 Notre Dame (79 points) will represent the Great Lakes Region at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The women's Great Lakes Regional Champ was Notre Dame's Molly Seidel who finished in a time of 20:04.4.
The men's side saw No. 5 Michigan (67 points) and Michigan State (RV) (88 points) advance to the Cross Country Championships from the Great Lakes Region. Michigan's Mason Ferlic won the regional with a first place time of 30:18.1 on the 10K course.
The 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships are held on November 21st in Louisville, Ky. where the women's race is slated for 12pm and the men's race is 1pm.
