Alonzo Walker Joins Kent State Men’s Basketball Program

KENT, Ohio — Head coach Rob Senderoff has announced the addition of Alonzo Walker to the Kent State men's basketball program.

A 6'6", 180-pound forward from Brampton, Ontario, Walker joins the Golden Flashes from Canadian powerhouse Orangeville Prep in Mono, Ontario.

"We are excited to add a player of Alonzo's caliber to our program at this point of the year," Senderoff said. "Kent State has had much success with late signees like Alonzo in the past, and we expect him to make a great impact on our program during his time as a Golden Flash. He is a great person and will fit in well with the team that we have coming back this season"

The 18th-ranked player in the class of 2015 by HoopsHype Canada, Walker averaged 9.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during his senior season at Orangeville Prep. Playing alongside some of the best players in Canada, Walker has teammates headed to Kentucky, UNLV, Tennessee and UNC Greensboro for the 2015-16 season.

Walker arrived on campus earlier in the week to participate in Kent State's International Student Orientation. He is the fifth member of Kent State's recruiting class for the upcoming season, joining freshmen Jalen Avery (Shroder H.S.), Rosel Hurley (IMG Academy) and Jaylin Walker (Romulus H.S.) and graduate transfer Galal Cancer (Cornell). A trio of Flashes that redshirted last season—guard Deon Edwin, forward/center Marvin Jones and guard Xavier Pollard—will join them for eight players who will make their debut in blue and gold in 2015-16.
