Women's Golf Season Set to Begin Monday at Minnesota
9/12/2015 4:24:00 PM | Women's Golf
Kent State women's golf will try to head into history once again as they embark on the 2015-16 season this Monday.
The program broke its scoring average the past two seasons and has seen the individual season record smashed as the career scoring leader is currently on the roster. With a win at the Mid-American Conference Championship, the Golden Flashes will have won 18-straight and set the new MAC record for consecutive titles.
The team will look to do that with reigning MAC Player of the Year and Medalist Josée Doyon and career scoring record-holder Wad Phaewchimplee. Senior Taylor Kim will also provide valuable rounds along with fellow returner Maddy Mullins. Newcomers Amira Alexander, who is a senior transfer out of Georgia, freshman Michaela Finn, Kasey Nielsen and Kelly Nielsen will also help bolster the squad.
But before Kent State can look to writing its name in the history books, it will have to make it through ten tournaments where it will try to rise in the national rankings. The Golden Flashes enter the season ranked 35th on Golfstat and 37th by Golfweek.
The 2015-16 season will begin Monday at the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis.
