Cross Country Opens the 2015 Season at the Tommy Evans Invitational Thursday

The Golden Flashes cross country teams head to Firestone Metro Park in Akron, Ohio for the 47th annual Tommy Evans Invitational this Thursday, September 10th to kick off their 2015 season. The women's race starts off at 5:30 p.m. while the men's race is at 6:15 p.m.
This season, the Kent State women's team was tabbed to finish in ninth in the Mid-American Conference where the men's team was picked to finish in seventh at the championships.
At the 2014 Tommy Evans Invitational, the women's team posted a 3-1 record defeating Akron (15-48), Marshall (15-30) and Youngstown State (23-38) and lost to Malone (24-32). The men's team finished with a 1-3 record with their lone with coming against Marshall (27-32) and suffering losses to Akron (18-40), Malone (16-46) and Youngstown State (19-42).
Kelsey McAlpine paced the women's team a year ago with a second place finish (18:41), where Rachel Slingluff came in fourth in a time of 18:51. Taylor Wickey rounded out the Flashes top-10 placers with a 10th place finish at 19:31.
Matt Kahl led the men's squad with an eighth place finish (20:39.50), with Mitchell Grose placing 21st with a time of 21:27.
The Golden Flashes return to the course on Friday, September 18th, when they travel to Blacksburg, Virginia to compete in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite.
