
Gymnastics Finishes 6th at NCAA Regionals

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Kent State gymnastics team's season came to end Saturday with a 6th place finish at the NCAA Gymnastics Iowa City Regional hosted by the University of Iowa.
The Golden Flashes posted team scores of 48.450 (vault), 48.650 (bars), 48.850 (beam), and 48.575 (floor), bringing their total to 194.525. Oklahoma was the regional champion, scoring a 197.575, followed by Nebraska (196.550), Arkansas (195.500), Iowa (195.450), and Central Michigan (194.675).
Sophomore Rachel Stypinski competed in the all-around competition finishing 7th (39.275) with scores of 9.725 (vault), 9.825 (bars), 9.875 (beam), and 9.85 (floor). Stypinski finished tied for 3rd in the floor standings and tied for 6th in the beam standings.
Senior Nicolle Eastman was the top finisher on vault for the Golden Flashes, scoring a 9.8 to tie for 9th place. Freshman Dara Williams tied for 23rd, scoring a 9.7.
Sophomore Michaela Romito also came away with a T-23rd finish, posting a 9.8 on the uneven bars. Freshman Sarah Lippowitsch scored a 9.7, followed by Brooke Timko (9.675) and Skyelee Lamano (9.65).
On the balance beam, sophomore Ali Marrero and freshman Kennedy Plude each scored a 9.8, finishing in a tie for 17th. Junior Milena Fabry added a 9.775, tying for 26th.
Finishing tied for 23rd on floor was Samantha Gordon and Eastman, each scoring a 9.725. Jordan Hardison scored a 9.7 to finish tied for 27th.
The Golden Flashes ended the season as the MAC regular season champions, finishing 6-0 in conference meets.
