Cross Country Academic All-MAC Teams Announced

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Kent State men's and women's cross country teams had 12 student-athletes named to the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Teams, the conference office announced on Tuesday (Nov. 21).
A total of 52 student-athletes were named to the men's team while 82 student-athletes were named to the women's team. Kent State senior Morgan Bing is one of only 13 student-athletes who boast a perfect 4.00 GPA.
The men's team had five honorees. Senior Nick Schank was named Academic All-MAC for the third time, while junior Brandon Avers and redshirt sophomore Sam Goodman were recognized for the second time. Sophomores Clark Bookman and Bryce Ott were also named Academic All-MAC.
The women's team had seven honorees. Bing received her third Academic All-MAC accolade, while redshirt sophomore Jaimie Adams, junior Morgan Arena, redshirt sophomore Olivia Davis, senior Robin Foster, junior Emily Henry and redshirt junior Morgan Manuel were all recognized for the second time.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
