
Kent State Softball Heading to Waco for NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Mid-American Conference Tournament champion Kent State is headed to Waco, Texas for NCAA Regional action this weekend (May 19-21).
The Golden Flashes (36-22) earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Waco Regional and will face host Baylor, who is the No. 15 national seed, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium. James Madison and Oregon State complete the Waco Regional field.
Kent State accomplished the improbable by winning three games on Saturday to capture its third MAC Tournament crown. This will be the fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Every game played in the Waco Regional will be streamed on ESPN3 and all of Kent State's games can be heard live on Golden Flashes Radio.
CHAMPIONSHIP STRUCTURE
The committee held selections on May 12-14. The 64-team field was selected from 295 NCAA Division I institutions sponsoring softball. Of the 64 teams, 32 teams received an automatic qualification with the remaining best 32 teams selected on an at-large basis.
Regionals will be held May 18-21 on 16 campus sites. At each campus site, a four-team, double-elimination tournament will be conducted and the 16 winning teams advance to the Super Regionals.
Super Regionals for the championship will be held May 25-28 on eight campus sites. At each site, two teams play in a best-of-three tournament format. The winners from each site advance to the NCAA® Women's College World Series (WCWS).
