Cross Country Academic All-MAC Teams Announced
Clevaland, Ohio – The Kent State men's and women's cross country teams had 10 student-athletes named to the 2018 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Teams, the conference announced Thursday.
A total of 46 student-athletes were named to the men's team while 79 student-athletes were named to the women's team. Junior Kevin Jones and sophomore Samantha Hyme are two of only 14 student-athletes who boast a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The men's team had five honorees led by Jones. Senior Brandon Avers and redshirt junior Sam Goodman were each recognized for the third time. Junior Clark Bookman was recognized for the second straight year, while sophomore Joshua Allen was also named Academic All-MAC.
The women's team also had five honorees. Hyme earned her first Academic All-Mac selection. Juniors Jaimie Adams and Olivia Davis were recognized for the second time, while sophomores Morgan Dunlap and Nicole Fleming each earned their first Academic All-MAC selection.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
