MURRAY, Ky. – Bailey Brownfield's two-out walk off single secured Kent State's second comeback win in as many days, as the Golden Flashes defeated Oakland, 6-5. The Golden Flashes were trailing by one in the bottom of the seventh inning until the Golden Grizzlies committed a costly error to allow Emily Dobbin to cross the plate and set up Brownfield's heroics.
Holly Speers clubbed her 36th home run of her career, and is now tied for second in program history with Jessica Carmichael (2008-11) and Jamie Fitzpatrick (2005-08) and is tied for ninth in Mid-American Conference history.
"We made some good adjustments at the plate after our first game and looked much better the rest of the weekend. There are still things to work on, but we have shown we are capable of scoring runs and coming back in games, even after surrendering early leads," said Kent State head coach Eric Oakley. "Congratulation to Olivia Sborlini on her first college win. And congrats to Holly Speers as she continues to make her mark on the record book. "Emily Dobbin, Sydney Anderson, Maria Cegledy and Kaitlyn Miller all had good weekends at the plate."
