OXFORD, Ohio – Kent State's offense could not find a rhythm Saturday afternoon and fell to Miami, 3-2, at the Miami Softball Stadium. The Golden Flashes (20-18, 6-8 MAC) had a 2-1 lead entering the bottom of the sixth, but the RedHawks (17-19, 6-8) clubbed a go-ahead double with two outs to win the game.

"We had another nice outing from Madi Huck and congrats to Brenna Brownfield on her first career home run," said Kent State head coach Eric Oakley. "Credit to Miami for finding a way to grind out two of the three games. There were three one-run games this weekend. It's frustrating that we didn't come out on top, but still time for us to make the necessary adjustments."

The Flashes' bats were held to four hits, with three extra base knocks. Holly Speers tripled to give Kent State a 1-0 lead in the first. With the game tied at one in the fifth, Brenna Brownfield hit her first career home run to give Kent State a 2-1 lead. After Miami took the lead, Kent State tried to muster a comeback attempt in the seventh as Maria Cegledy reached on a hit by pitch, but was left on base.

Emily Dobbin finished the day 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Madi Huck (12-7) allowed eight hits and three earned runs while striking out three and walking two in 5.2 innings. Brenna Brownfield came in to record the final out of the sixth.

In the series against Miami, every game was decided by one run. Kent State won the opener, 4-3, but dropped the middle game, 6-5, in 11 innings.
