
Second-Half Comeback Not Enough, Flashes Fall at BG

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- Â Kent State fought back from a double-digit deficit in the opening minutes of the second half, but Bowling Green kept the Flashes at bay and protected home court with a 77-72 victory on Friday night.
The Golden Flashes (20-9, 9-7 MAC) took a 55-54 lead at the 8:41 mark in the second half and never let the Falcons pull ahead more than five points. A layup from junior Philip Whittington cut Bowling Green's lead to one, 71-70, but Bowling Green kept the Flashes from re-gaining the lead.
Senior Jaylin Walker led the Flashes with a game-high 26 points and five rebounds. Junior Antonio Williams recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Williams also dished out a game-high six assists.
As a team, Kent State shot 28-of-69 (40.6 percent) from the field and went 7-of-29 (24.1 percent) from long range.
The Flashes won the rebounding battle, 41-30. Kent State brought down 20 offensive boards while converting 12 second chance points off of them.
The Flashes stay on the road as they travel to Miami on Tuesday for their last road contest of the regular season. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. and will be on ESPN+.
