
Ken Johnson Joins Athletic Advancement Team

Kent State recently welcomed the newest member to its athletic department when Ken Johnson became assistant athletic director of The Golden Flashes Club.
Johnson will help lead TGFC annual fundraising, donor benefits, Athletics Giving Tuesday and crowdfunding efforts, as well as TGFC donor hospitality. Â In addition, he will assist with the continued revitalization of the Varsity "K" program.Â
"I am excited and blessed to have this opportunity at Kent State," Johnson said.  "I look forward to working with the donors, alumni, and fans of this great university that help support our student-athletes. I can't wait to help make an impact within our programs and on our student-athlete experience."  Â
Johnson joins Kent State after serving the previous two years as assistant director of development within the Yosef Club at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Johnson helped create, schedule, and organize all annual appeals, managed game day hospitality for football and men's basketball, and managed the Yosef Club trade program with local businesses and service providers. He was also part of a team that achieved a record-high in annual fund memberships.
"Ken brings a high level of education to the position, along with great work experiences at two tremendous universities," Associate Athletic Director for Athletics Advancement J Locklier said.  "We are excited to have Ken on board our TGFC team. His skill set will certainly help bolster our fundraising team as we continue to generate support for our student-athletes and their respective sport programs."
Prior to Appalachian State, Johnson spent three years in various roles within athletics at the University of Georgia. He held positions in the athletics business office and athletics compliance before serving as a development assistant within the Georgia Bulldog Club. Johnson was part of a team that set a record-breaking year of $56.96 million in contributions.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Johnson earned three degrees from Augusta State University, including a B.S. in sociology, a M.A. in teaching, and a Ed.S. in educational leadership & administration. He also earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia Law School.
