AKRON, Ohio – Kent State (27-24) fell to Toledo (26-26) 2-1 in the Mid-American Conference Tournament elimination bracket semifinal on Friday evening. The Golden Flashes were eliminated from tournament contention in their league-record 16th consecutive appearance.
A first inning two-run homer was all the offense the Rockets needed as Kent State was only able to score once in the sixth inning on a Kaitlyn Miller RBI center to centerfield.
Madi Huck (5-11) took the decision even though she turned in a quality start and gave her team the chance to win and only allowed two runs in four innings of work. Andrea Scali pitched three innings of scoreless relief and struck out five. She recorded her 258th strikeouts of the season which is sixth most in a single season in program history and the most ever by a freshman.
