Kent State Softball Accepts Postseason Bid to NISC

KENT, Ohio – For the first time in program history Kent State has accepted a bid to the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) as announced Sunday (May 12) night. The Golden Flashes will participate in the Lynchburg, Va. regional along with Liberty, Appalachian State, George Washington, Marshall and Rutgers.
Triple Crown Sports, who runs the tournament, will release game times and specific matchups at a later time. Kentstatesports.com will be updated with the latest information. All regionals are double elimination, with the four regional winners advancing to the NISC championship round – that double-elimination bracket will be held in Fort Collins on May 24-26.
The Golden Flashes are 25-22 this year and have the highest RPI in the Mid-American Conference (66). Kent State's Andrea Scali took home the MAC Pitcher and Freshman of the Year awards and Brenna Brownfield Player of the Year honors. It's the first time in league history a single school has won all three awards.
