Golden Flashes Kick Off Season at Pitt Panther Opener

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State cross country teams begin their 2019 season at the Pitt Panther Opener in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Friday Aug. 30. The women's 4K race will start at 6 p.m., with the men's 6K race beginning at 6:55 p.m.
The Golden Flashes were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll for both the men and women. Returning on the men's side is senior Clark Bookman, who led Kent State in all six races last season including the first Flashes victory since 2013 at the Tommy Evans Invitational. He also recorded an 83rd place finish in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
Junior Maddie Dunlap leads the women in 2019 after leading the team in every race last season. She posted a season-high fourth-place finish at the Tommy Evans Invitational. Redshirt senior Jaimie Adams, redshirt junior Rachel Banks and junior Nicole Fleming also return for the Flashes.
The Panthers are hosting their first cross country race at home in 42 years. The Golden Flashes will be joined in the women's race by Bucknell, Marshall, Robert Morris and Pittsburgh. In the men's race, the Flashes will take on Pittsburgh, Bucknell and Marshall.
