Rooney and McNally Lead Flashes in Loss to Mizzou

KENT, OHIO- Tim Rooney and Andrew McNally earned falls at 133 and 174 pounds, but Missouri came out the victor, 31-12, in a Sunday afternoon MAC dual.
Rooney gave the Flashes the lead with his first MAC fall of the year. The senior found himself trailing in the third period and used great leverage on Allan Hart (10-7) to flip him on the mat and get the pin with just 16 seconds remaining. It was Rooney's 20th victory of the season and improved to 4-1 against MAC competition. After Mizzou took back the lead at 141, Kody Komara gave #4 Brock Mauller all he could handle at 149. Komara took the lead at the end of the first period but came up on the wrong end of a hard-fought 6-4 decision.
McNally got the Flashes back on the board, dominating his bout with Jeremiah Kent (14-7). McNally got an early takedown and never let go of that advantage, earning his first MAC fall of the year at 2:56, just before the first period came to a close.
The Tigers were able to pull out the final three matches by decision. Colin McCracken nearly had completed his comeback against Wyatt Koelling but ran him out of bounds then ran out of time in the third period to fall in a 3-2 decision. Spencer Berthold got a take down, stalling point and the riding time bonus to storm back and force overtime against Jacob Bohlken. In the extra frame, Bohlken was able to get a hold of Berthold's leg and eventually got the off-balance take down to get the sudden victory.
Kent State drops to 5-9 overall in duals and 1-4 in the MAC. The Flashes are back in action next Saturday as they head to Buffalo to wrestle the Bulls. The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
