
Flashes Host Cornell Friday Night

Kent, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team will compete at home this Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. against Cornell for the second time this season. When the teams last met, the Flashes took the victory outscoring Cornell 195.325-191.375.
The Golden Flashes are coming off a season high score of 196.050, posting the highest score in the Mid-American Conference this season. The team posted a season-high on three events including their best score on floor since the 2018 season. They posted a 49.350 floor, a 49.000 on bars and a 48.975 on vault.
Freshman Rachel DeCavitch was named Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season. This marks the third-straight week a Golden Flash has been named MAC Gymnast of the Week. The last time Kent State took home three MAC Gymnasts of the Week in a row was in 2013 when Marie Case earned three straight.
Freshman Olivia Amodei took home the bar title, scoring a career-high of 9.850. Brown and sophomore Madison Iannuzzo tied for third place with a score of 9.800. Brown also tied for third on vault.
About Cornell
Cornell is coming off a loss at home against Pennsylvania. Senior Samantha Henry and junior Maddison Smith earned individual titles on floor and beam. Â
Senior Evelyn Patient posted a career-high on bars with a 9.775 to finish second. Smith also tied for first place on beam matching her career-high of 9.800 and placed third on floor scoring a 9.775.

The Golden Flashes will be back on the road to compete against rival Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. Kent State is ranked second in the Mid-American Conference behind Central Michigan this season by .05.
