
McCracken and Rooney Named Academic All-MAC

KENT, OHIO- Kent State wrestlers Colin McCracken and Tim Rooney were named to the Academic All-MAC team as announced by the conference on Thursday.
McCracken finished his red-shirt sophomore season with an overall record of 24-15 and was the Golden Flashes' starter at 197 pounds. He took second at the Navy Invite, third at the Mountaineer Invite, fourth at the Cleveland State Open and fifth at the MAC Championships. The Waynesburg, Pennsylvania native owns a 3.73 grade point average while majoring in engineering and technology.
Rooney becomes the fourth Kent State wrestler to be a four-time member of the MAC All-Academic team. The graduate senior joins Ross Tice (2009-12), Chance Driscoll (2015-18) and Stephen Suglio (2015-18) in that elite group. Rooney closed his career in stellar fashion, going 26-9 on the season and capturing the Mid-American Conference title at 133 pounds. The two-time national qualifier rose to #13 in the rankings at 133 pounds by season's end. The exercise physiology major owns a 3.81 grade-point average and will head to graduate school to become a physician's assistant.
