Hellstrom Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Thursday, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2021-22 Academic All-District teams for soccer, with Kent State's Karly Hellstrom being named to the team for District 5.
Hellstrom, the redshirt senior forward from Sudbury, Ontario, received this prestigious award after posting a 3.92 GPA in her classes at KSU. An exercise science major, Hellstrom has paired that academic excellence with stellar play on the field, finishing first in the Mid-American Conference this season in assists with 11 and third in points with 25. She was an instrumental part of a Golden Flashes squad that surpassed expectations and made it all the way to the MAC Championship game. She was also named First Team All-MAC for her regular season performance and All-Tournament for her postseason play.
Not a stranger to being honored for her prowess in the classroom, Hellstrom was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the 2020-21 season.
Hellstrom will now be up for consideration to be named to the CoSIDAÂ Academic All-America Team, with voting taking place next week.
